About Artifact

The basics of what Artifact is, who it is for, and what kind of community it aims to be.

What is Artifact?

Artifact is a creative community rooted in the furry fandom and open to people from many artistic styles, fandoms, and creative interests. It is built around creativity, trust, education, collaboration, and respectful community participation.

Learn more about Why Artifact.

Is Artifact only for furries?

No. Artifact is proudly rooted in the furry community, but it also welcomes people interested in anime, manga, fantasy, science fiction, gaming, tabletop roleplaying, cosplay, writing, music, original characters, crafts, photography, and many other creative spaces.

You do not need to identify with a particular fandom to participate respectfully.

Do I need to be an artist to join?

No. Artifact welcomes artists, artisans, commissioners, collectors, supporters, learners, fans, and people who simply enjoy spending time in a creative community.

You can be here to share work, commission someone, learn a skill, discuss your interests, attend events, meet people, or enjoy the community.

What does “Artifact” mean?

An artifact is something left behind that carries meaning, history, creativity, or value. Artifact’s community is built around the idea that every shared creation, friendship, lesson, and act of support can leave something worthwhile behind.

Every creator leaves something behind.
Every community does too.

Rules, safety, and moderation

Where to find the rules, understand staff processes, and raise concerns responsibly.

Where can I find the rules?

Artifact’s practical expectations are on the Community Guidelines page. The Community Charter explains the values and culture the community is trying to build.

Discord’s platform rules also apply to every Artifact member.

Do Discord’s rules apply in Artifact?

Yes. Artifact operates on Discord, so all members must follow Discord’s Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, and applicable Discord policies in addition to Artifact’s own rules.

Artifact may apply stricter community standards where appropriate.

How do I report a problem?

Use Artifact’s private reporting process for serious concerns such as harassment, threats, scams, impersonation, stolen work, privacy violations, unsafe links, or other policy issues.

Preserve relevant evidence, include useful context, and avoid public callouts or accusation threads.

Read Reporting Information.

What should I do if I disagree with a moderation decision?

Do not argue publicly, recruit other members, evade the action, or create a public callout. Use the Appeals process to explain your perspective respectfully and provide relevant context.

Read Appeals Information.

Why are staff decisions and reports handled privately?

Privacy helps protect reporters, witnesses, staff, and members involved in a situation. It also helps staff review evidence without encouraging harassment, rumors, retaliation, or incomplete public narratives.

18+ access and adult content

Adult material is handled carefully to protect members, respect boundaries, and keep Artifact within Discord platform requirements.

How does 18+ verification work?

Artifact uses an adult-access verification process for members who want access to restricted 18+ spaces. Verification instructions are provided inside Discord rather than on the public website.

The 18+ role confirms access eligibility. It is not a marketplace endorsement, creator certification, or guarantee of behavior.

Read Verification Information.

Can I post NSFW content?

Only members with the appropriate 18+ verification may access or post adult content, and it must remain in designated age-restricted spaces.

Artifact’s Adult Content Policy includes detailed requirements for fictional content, sensitive themes, age boundaries, tagging, channel placement, and prohibited material.

Read the Adult Content Policy.

Can I send NSFW content through DMs?

Never send adult content or sexual messages to a member who is under 18, not 18+ verified, or who has not clearly consented to that kind of interaction.

Adult content rules are not limited to public channels. Members are expected to respect age, consent, privacy, and safety in all Artifact-related interactions.

What if I am unsure whether content is allowed?

Ask staff before posting it. This is especially important for borderline material, unusual fictional species, sensitive themes, graphic violence, taboo content, adult commissions, or content that may be difficult to classify.

Asking first is responsible and can prevent a misunderstanding or a serious policy issue.

Marketplace and commissions

Helpful answers for artists, artisans, commissioners, and anyone participating in creative transactions.

Can I advertise commissions or creative services?

Yes, when you use approved marketplace areas and follow Artifact’s marketplace standards. Present your work honestly, set clear terms, communicate professionally, and respect the age boundaries that apply to paid and adult-oriented work.

Read Selling on Artifact.

Do I need to be verified to sell on Artifact?

Verification can provide useful context and may be required for specific participation levels or spaces. It does not replace clear terms, reliable communication, honest examples, or safe payment habits.

Read about Verification Levels.

Does Artifact guarantee commissions or handle payments?

No. Artifact is not a payment processor, escrow service, legal representative, or automatic mediator for private agreements.

Members should use clear written terms, protected payment methods where possible, invoices or records, and good judgment before entering a commission agreement.

Read Payment Safety.

What should I do if I think I am being scammed?

Pause before sending more money, work, files, account information, or personal details. Save relevant messages and payment records, then report the concern privately.

Artifact can review community policy concerns, but it cannot reverse private payments. You may also need to contact the support or dispute process of your payment provider.

Is AI-generated work allowed?

Artifact permits limited AI use for learning, study, reference, or concepting when it is clearly labeled. AI-generated work may not be sold, traded, represented as human-created work, or used for Artisan verification.

Read AI & Creative Technology Policy.

Community participation

Everyday questions about channels, voice chat, promotion, recording, and getting involved.

Can I invite people to another Discord server?

Do not advertise unrelated servers, businesses, products, or services without staff approval. Artifact wants to protect members from spam, poaching, scams, and unapproved promotional activity.

Can I share my social media or portfolio?

Yes, when shared in the appropriate place and in a way that follows channel expectations. Keep public-facing profiles appropriate for a mixed-age community and do not use links, QR codes, or files to mislead people or collect sensitive information.

Can I record voice chat or streams?

Voice channels are treated as private community spaces. Recording is prohibited unless it is clearly announced and handled according to Artifact’s Voice & Recording Policy.

Never pressure others into participating in a recording or use a recording to shame, expose, or target someone.

Read Voice & Recording Policy.

What kinds of things can I do in Artifact?

Artifact is a place for art sharing, creative discussion, commission activity, fandom conversations, learning, gaming, voice hangouts, future events, community spotlights, and meeting people with shared interests.
