Appeals

Fair review matters.

Artifact recognizes that moderation decisions can be serious. Appeals provide a way for members to request review when they believe a decision was incorrect, incomplete, or missing important context.

Why appeals exist.

Moderation is meant to protect the community, not to win arguments or punish people unnecessarily. When appropriate, Artifact allows members to request a review of certain moderation actions.

Appeals help ensure that decisions can be reconsidered when new information, missing context, or a possible mistake may affect the outcome.

What appeals are for.

Appeals are intended for serious, respectful review requests — not public disputes or arguments with staff.

⚖️

Decision Review

Request review when you believe a moderation action was incorrect or missing important context.

📄

New Information

Provide evidence or context that may not have been available when the original decision was made.

🤝

Respectful Resolution

Appeals should be handled calmly, honestly, and through the proper process.

An appeal is not a debate.
It is a request for review.

What helps an appeal.

Clear, honest, and respectful appeals are easier for staff to evaluate.

Helpful appeals include...

  • Your Discord username and relevant account details
  • The action you are appealing
  • A clear explanation of what happened
  • Relevant screenshots, message links, or evidence
  • New context staff may not have had earlier
  • Accountability where appropriate

Appeals may be denied for...

  • Harassment or disrespect toward staff
  • False or misleading information
  • Repeated submissions without new context
  • Attempts to pressure, threaten, or manipulate staff
  • Violations that are considered zero tolerance
  • Cases where the original action is upheld

How appeals are reviewed.

Appeals are handled case by case. Submission does not guarantee that a decision will be changed.

1
You submit an appeal with relevant context and evidence.
2
Artifact staff or administration review the available information.
3
Staff may compare your appeal against community standards, prior evidence, and moderation history.
4
A decision may be upheld, modified, reversed, or denied depending on the review.
5
Some details may remain confidential to protect reporters, witnesses, staff process, or community privacy.

Confidentiality and staff discretion.

Artifact may not share all evidence, reporter information, or internal moderation reasoning.

Many moderation decisions involve private reports, sensitive context, or other members who deserve privacy. Appeals are reviewed in good faith, but Artifact reserves the right to deny appeals on a case-by-case basis.

Respect goes both ways.

Artifact expects members to treat staff respectfully, and staff are expected to handle appeals professionally. Appeals are more likely to be reviewed constructively when they are calm, honest, and focused on the facts.

Arguing in public channels, harassing staff, or attempting to create pressure around a moderation decision may harm the appeal process.
