Community Charter

What we build matters. How we build it matters more.

Artifact exists to bring creative people together through trust, curiosity, shared interests, and a shared responsibility to leave something worthwhile behind.

A community built with intention.

Artifact is more than a collection of channels, roles, tools, and conversations. It is a shared space shaped every day by the people who choose to participate in it.

We believe a strong community should make room for creativity, friendship, learning, disagreement handled responsibly, and the simple joy of sharing something meaningful with others. That does not happen automatically. It happens when members choose patience over hostility, honesty over performance, and connection over division.

This Charter explains the values Artifact is built around. It is not the rulebook. The Community Guidelines explain specific expectations and moderation standards. The Adult Content Policy explains detailed requirements for adult material, sensitive themes, channel access, and enforcement.

What Artifact stands for.

These principles guide how we approach creativity, trust, safety, and our shared community life.

🎨

Creativity Has Value

Art, craft, writing, music, performance, design, imagination, and enthusiasm all deserve room to exist and grow.

🤝

Respect Is Active

Respect means honoring people’s time, effort, boundaries, privacy, identity, consent, and right to participate safely.

✦

Trust Is Earned

Trust is built through honesty, reliability, communication, accountability, and how people treat others over time.

🔒

Consent, Age & Context

Adult expression belongs only in properly restricted spaces, between appropriately verified adults, and within boundaries that protect consent, privacy, and safety.

Every community leaves a legacy.
Let ours be worth remembering.

Creativity belongs here.

Artifact is rooted in the furry community while remaining open to people from many creative interests, fandoms, backgrounds, and skill levels.

Artifact welcomes a wide range of fictional, artistic, and adult creative expression in the appropriate spaces. Creative freedom does not mean every subject, depiction, or behavior belongs everywhere.

When content involves adult themes, violence, taboo subjects, or sensitive material, members are expected to use the correct channels, follow age restrictions, provide appropriate context, and respect the safety of the people around them.

Creative work may explore social or political themes through art, satire, or storytelling. Artifact is not a venue for campaigning, propaganda, political debate, or ongoing ideological conflict.

There is room for

  • Artists, artisans, writers, musicians, makers, performers, and designers
  • Commissioners, collectors, supporters, and people discovering creative work for the first time
  • People learning a new skill, returning after time away, or experimenting without knowing where they fit yet
  • Furry, anime, fantasy, science fiction, gaming, tabletop, cosplay, original worlds, and many other interests

We believe

  • Your value is not limited to your follower count, skill level, popularity, or commission status
  • Curiosity and a willingness to learn matter as much as experience
  • People can share what they love without needing to prove that it is “serious enough” or “good enough”
  • Creative spaces are stronger when people make room for perspectives beyond their own

Respect is more than avoiding harm.

A welcoming community is not created only by avoiding obvious cruelty. It is created through the everyday choices people make when they speak, disagree, collaborate, and respond to one another.

Respect also means understanding that context matters. A fictional scene, artistic study, adult commission, horror concept, or taboo theme may require clear labeling, restricted access, or staff review.

Artistic intent is never a shortcut around consent, age safeguards, privacy, platform requirements, or another person’s boundaries.

💬

Communicate Clearly

Ask questions before assuming the worst. Say what you mean. Make space for context when it matters.

🫶

Honor Boundaries

Respect personal limits, creative ownership, privacy, consent, time, and the ability to say no without punishment.

🌱

Leave Room to Learn

People can make mistakes and improve. Growth is encouraged when it comes with accountability and genuine effort.

Trust is built through action.

Trust is not a title someone gives themselves. It is built through the small things: keeping commitments, communicating when plans change, treating people fairly, protecting private information, and being honest when something has gone wrong.

This applies to artists, commissioners, moderators, friends, longtime members, and newcomers alike. Artifact’s systems can provide helpful context, but no role or verification label replaces personal responsibility.

We ask members to approach one another with both reasonable care and basic humanity. You can be thoughtful without becoming suspicious of everyone. You can protect yourself without becoming cruel. You can set boundaries without making someone else feel lesser for having different ones.

Community is shared responsibility.

Artifact is healthier when members treat it as something they help care for, not simply something they consume.

That means contributing to

  • A culture where new members can ask questions without being mocked
  • Creative conversations that encourage rather than tear down
  • Private, responsible reporting when serious concerns arise
  • A willingness to share knowledge, resources, encouragement, and perspective
  • A community that values real connection over cliques, popularity contests, or public drama

It also means remembering

  • You do not need to solve every issue yourself
  • Not every disagreement needs an audience
  • Public callouts, dogpiles, and rumor-sharing can harm innocent people and make real issues harder to address
  • Respecting the community sometimes means stepping back, cooling down, or asking for help through the proper process
  • Everyone helps define what feels normal here through the behavior they choose to reward or challenge

We are not here to be perfect.
We are here to be better than careless.

Conflict without cruelty.

Conflict is part of any real community. The goal is not to pretend disagreement never happens. The goal is to handle it in ways that protect people, preserve dignity, and leave room for truth.

🧭

Seek Understanding

Before escalating, take a moment to understand what happened, what was intended, and what information may be missing.

🛡️

Protect People

Safety, privacy, and dignity matter. Serious concerns should be handled responsibly and through appropriate channels.

⚖️

Practice Accountability

Apologies matter when they are paired with changed behavior. Growth does not erase harm, but it can shape what comes next.

Safety, privacy, and boundaries.

Creativity flourishes when people feel safe enough to share work, ask for help, participate socially, and exist without fear of being exploited or exposed.

Artifact supports

  • Respect for personal information, private conversations, and consent
  • Clear age boundaries and responsible access to adult-only spaces
  • Creative freedom within age, consent, privacy, and platform-safety boundaries
  • Fictional and artistic expression that is tagged clearly and placed in the correct context
  • Private reporting and staff review when serious safety, consent, or Trust & Safety concerns arise
  • Tools and education that help members make safer marketplace and community decisions

We ask members to remember

  • Adult content is never appropriate around minors or outside approved adult-only spaces
  • Fictional expression does not excuse sexualized minors, real people without consent, exploitation, or content prohibited by Artifact policy
  • Context, tagging, channel placement, and consent are part of responsible participation
  • Trust does not mean sharing more personal information than you are comfortable sharing
  • Someone being popular, talented, verified, or familiar does not remove the need for good judgment
  • When a boundary is unclear, asking staff before posting is responsible—not inconvenient

Creative freedom needs responsible boundaries.

Artifact supports fictional and artistic expression while maintaining clear protections for age, consent, privacy, real-world safety, and Discord platform requirements.

Detailed requirements for adult content, fictional versus real-life material, channel restrictions, sensitive themes, proper tagging, and prohibited content are available in the Adult Content Policy.

Growth and accountability belong together.

Artifact believes people can learn. We want members to feel comfortable asking questions, admitting when they are uncertain, and improving after mistakes. No one arrives knowing everything.

Growth and education are meaningful where someone has made a good-faith mistake and is willing to listen. They do not excuse sexualized depictions of minors, real-life sexual content or violence, bestiality or zoophilia, exploitative behavior, or other severe conduct that places members or the community at serious risk.

At the same time, growth is not an excuse to ignore harm, dismiss boundaries, or repeatedly place the burden on others to tolerate behavior that should change. Accountability means listening, reflecting, making repairs where possible, and doing better going forward.

The strongest communities are not the ones where no one ever makes mistakes. They are the ones where people learn how to respond to mistakes without cruelty, denial, or avoidance.

Our shared commitment.

Artifact is not defined by a logo, a Discord server, or a list of channels.

It is defined by what we build together, how we treat one another, and what we choose to leave behind.

Every conversation can add something. Every act of patience can make the space safer. Every shared creation, friendship, lesson, event, and moment of support becomes part of Artifact’s story.

We invite every member to help make that story one worth carrying forward.
