Artifact Bot Terms
Terms for Artifact’s community-entry system.
These Terms apply to your interaction with The Gate Keeper inside the Artifact Discord community, including the member-entry questionnaire, staff review process, and related access workflows.
Acceptance of these Terms.
By joining Artifact, communicating with The Gate Keeper, completing its questionnaire, or otherwise interacting with its entry process, you agree to these Terms.
These Terms work alongside Artifact’s Community Guidelines, Trust & Safety policies, Discord’s Terms of Service, Discord’s Community Guidelines, and any other rules or notices made available to you in Artifact.
What The Gate Keeper is.
The Gate Keeper is an Artifact-operated Discord bot used only within the Artifact Discord community. Its primary purpose is to support Artifact’s structured entry process for new members.
The Bot may assign a temporary welcome role, send an applicant a questionnaire through Discord direct messages, collect the applicant’s responses, present relevant account context to authorized Artifact staff, and support staff-led approval, denial, assistance, removal, or enforcement actions.
The Gate Keeper is not offered as a general-purpose service for other Discord communities, server owners, or third-party organizations.
Artifact’s entry process.
Artifact uses The Gate Keeper to give applicants a structured way to introduce themselves before receiving full access to the community.
The questionnaire may ask about matters such as whether you have reviewed Artifact’s rules, why you would like to join, how you found the community, and your creative interests. Artifact may update the wording, order, or content of questionnaire prompts as the community evolves.
Completing the questionnaire does not guarantee admission, membership, role access, continued participation, or any particular decision from Artifact.
Your responsibilities as an applicant.
Applicants must communicate honestly, respectfully, and in good faith throughout Artifact’s entry process. The questionnaire is intended to help staff understand who is requesting access and why.
- Provide truthful and non-misleading answers.
- Do not impersonate another person or submit an application on someone else’s behalf.
- Do not attempt to evade, bypass, manipulate, or disrupt the questionnaire or review process.
- Do not submit threats, slurs, harassment, sexual harassment, malicious content, or otherwise prohibited material.
- Do not use alternate accounts to evade an Artifact decision, restriction, ban, or prior denial of access.
- Do not pressure, threaten, bribe, harass, or target Artifact staff over an entry decision.
Information used in an entry review.
The Gate Keeper helps present relevant entry information consistently for authorized Artifact staff.
Applicant context
- Discord username or display information available to the Bot
- Discord user ID
- Discord account-creation date
- Profile avatar made available through Discord
- Questionnaire responses submitted through The Gate Keeper
Process information
- Questionnaire completion status
- Entry-role and approved-member-role changes
- Staff review outcomes and related action logs
- Relevant Bot interactions necessary to manage the entry workflow
- Technical and security information required to operate the Bot responsibly
Human staff review.
The Gate Keeper organizes the application process and presents information for review. It does not independently decide whether someone is trustworthy, safe, eligible, or a suitable fit for Artifact.
Entry decisions are made by Artifact’s authorized staff using their judgment, Artifact’s rules, available context, and the safety needs of the community.
As part of a review, Artifact staff may consider the questionnaire response, Discord account context made available through the Bot, and publicly visible Discord profile information. Staff review remains an internal Artifact process and is not a promise of admission.
Artifact’s decision authority.
Artifact may approve, decline, delay, request additional review, restrict, remove, or ban an applicant or member when Artifact determines that doing so is appropriate for community safety, policy enforcement, operational needs, or the integrity of the entry process.
Artifact is not required to disclose every detail of an entry decision, particularly where doing so could compromise privacy, staff safety, moderation practices, platform reporting, or the safety of other community members.
A denied application does not necessarily mean Artifact is making a statement about your character. It means Artifact has decided not to grant access at that time.
Direct messages are required for the questionnaire.
The Gate Keeper uses Discord direct messages to deliver entry questions and receive responses. You may need to enable direct messages from server members in your Discord privacy settings before the questionnaire can be completed.
If you experience a technical issue, Artifact may provide a staff-supported alternative or additional instructions where appropriate. A technical issue does not guarantee an exception to Artifact’s entry requirements.
Artifact and Discord rules.
You must follow Artifact’s own rules in addition to Discord’s applicable platform rules. Where multiple rules apply, you must follow the stricter applicable requirement.
Prohibited use of The Gate Keeper.
You may not use, attempt to use, or help another person use The Gate Keeper in a way that is abusive, deceptive, harmful, unlawful, or inconsistent with Artifact’s rules.
- Do not interfere with, overload, exploit, or attempt to compromise the Bot or its related systems.
- Do not scrape, copy, distribute, expose, or misuse questionnaire responses or staff-review information.
- Do not attempt to access applicant information, staff channels, review actions, or Bot functions without authorization.
- Do not use the Bot or its entry process to harass, shame, stalk, intimidate, discriminate against, or target another person.
- Do not attempt to reverse engineer, clone, resell, or create an unauthorized derivative service from The Gate Keeper.
- Do not treat a Bot response, staff review, or Artifact decision as a substitute for emergency services, crisis support, medical care, legal advice, or law-enforcement assistance.
The Gate Keeper is not a guarantee.
The Gate Keeper is not an identity-verification service, legal age-verification service, background-check service, behavioral prediction service, or guarantee that every harmful, deceptive, or unsafe account will be identified before entry.
Questionnaire responses, profile context, account age, and staff review may provide useful information, but they are not conclusive proof of a person’s identity, intentions, character, eligibility, or future behavior.
Availability and changes.
The Gate Keeper is provided on an “as available” basis. Artifact may update, modify, restrict, suspend, replace, or discontinue any Bot feature or workflow when needed for maintenance, security, safety, community operations, legal compliance, platform compatibility, or other reasonable operational reasons.
Artifact does not guarantee uninterrupted Bot availability, immediate application review, error-free operation, preserved access to every record, or a particular timeline for an entry decision.
Privacy.
Artifact’s handling of information related to The Gate Keeper is described in the The Gate Keeper Privacy Policy.
By using the entry process, you acknowledge that The Gate Keeper may process information needed to operate Artifact’s questionnaire, staff-review, role-management, and related safety workflows.
Changes to these Terms.
Artifact may update these Terms when needed. When changes are published, the effective date at the top of this page will be updated.
Continued use of The Gate Keeper or continued participation in Artifact after updated Terms take effect means you accept the revised version. If you do not agree, you must stop using The Gate Keeper and may leave Artifact.
